These Cichlid stones are hollow and are made out of ceramic. These look like real rocks and with a hole in them they provide a excellent spawning area for your cichlids. You also will not loose water volume because they fill with water. Much lighter that traditional rock as well. These look so real you will think they are.

Even though the rocks look uniform, you can turn them and make them face different angles so that that they don't alike. I mixed with my real slate rocks to get a darker look in the rocks. My medium sized fish experiment a lot with these hollow rocks. My medium sized blood parrots can fit through the holes of the largest rock even when the hole is sideways. Best prices on internet too. Only complaint is that since they are manufactured rocks you can sometimes see seems from the molding, but only picky people will notice this or if you look very closely at the rocks. Overall, these rocks add great dimension to my aquairum, wish we could show pictures in these reviews.

These stones are fantastic for my mbuna African Cichlid aquariums. The stack pretty stable and startto look like real rocks once they get their patina of algae. My cichlids prefer the spaces in between the stones as opposed to the caves, with the exception of a few holding females. I also like that they weigh less than even lava rock and because they are hollow they displace less water letting me keep a bit more volume than I could with rocks. They lose a star due to there being too little variety in color and too many small stones in the pack (which for my fish are useless).

I received the set of stones and was immediately impressed with the design. I was looking for natural looking rocks without all the excess weight. These stones were exactly what I was looking for. I ordered them and they were delivered earlier than I expected and individually packaged. I look forward to doing buisiness with kensfish.com again.
